Kirby plays baseball because “I grew up around baseball and developed a love for the game. I feel I have been called to serve God through baseball.” His goal for the season is to “reserve a spot in the starting pitching rotation and maintain an ERA below 3. I also want to be a nationally recognized pitcher.”
His favorite baseball memory is from his senior year in high school when “I took a no hitter into the last inning and struck out 13.” The best baseball advice he’s been given is “Don’t be discouraged when you see other guys throwing harder than you. Know who you are, and pitch your game,” from David Clyde. His baseball hero is Craig Biggio and his favorite team is the Houston Astros.
When not playing baseball, Kirby enjoys playing Ping Pong. His favorite music groups are Manchester Orchestra and Red Hot Chili Peppers. His favorite TV show is “Scrubs.” His favorite movie is “Donnie Darko.”
Kirby is from Pearland, Texas, and he was home schooled. His parents are George and Mona. He has two sisters, Olivia, 14, and Alana, 14.
